After 25 years, Wisconsin homeowner Mike Huszar knew it was time to replace his old cedar shake shingles. Some of the ridges had blown off and his insurance company was grumbling about covering the real cedar shakes.
“We wanted a simulated product with a fire rating and warranty to help with our ability to maintain full insurance coverage,” says Huszar. “That’s really hard to do with wood shakes. We believed a synthetic product might also help reduce insurance costs.”
